Research training is a keystone of the University of Melbourne and a

widely recognised as being the ‘research engine’ of the university, with
candidates’ activity contributing significantly to the University’s rich
intellectual community and research output. With a Research Higher
Degree student load of over 3000, the University has the largest cohort
of research students in Australia. The Melbourne School of Graduate Research has an important role within the University’s research environment, offering a range of enrichment activities and support mechanisms that contribute to the success of our PhD candidates and consequently, to the research reputation of the University.
